Lucknow,
06 May (HS): Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday questioned
the fairness of the West Bengal Assembly elections and requested that the
Supreme Court take quick cognizance of the electoral process and make video
recordings of vote counting accessible to the public. Why can't vote counting go
live, like judicial proceedings? Yadav stated this during a presser held here. Why
does CCTV not work? What makes them so terrified of it? Our demand is that the
Supreme Court immediately take cognizance of the West Bengal polls and display
a video of the counting in front of the country's people, he stated. In
reference to suspected anomalies, Yadav listed various recent elections and
bypolls in Uttar Pradesh as examples, claiming there were differences
throughout the counting process.
Former
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister argued that happenings in Bengal might be
reproduced on a greater scale in Uttar Pradesh, where assembly elections are
scheduled for next year. What
they witnessed in Bengal will be replicated on a larger scale in Uttar Pradesh.
He said that a multi-layered electoral mafia will collaborate, do further
research, and operate in Uttar Pradesh (during the 2027 elections). These guys
have been exposed for what they did in West Bengal, including influencing
elections and changing the political choice, according to Yadav. His words came
after the BJP won a landslide victory in West Bengal, beating the Trinamool
Congress led by Mamata Banerjee. Yadav had backed Banerjee and her party during
the elections. In response to a query about whether he would meet Banerjee,
Yadav stated that he will travel West Bengal. He responded, I will go to Bengal.
