Bareilly,
06 May (HS): A 26-year-old male has been detained for allegedly sexually
abusing an 11-year-old girl, who subsequently committed suicide due to stress
and embarrassment, authorities said on Wednesday. The post-mortem analysis
revealed sexual assault and other damage to the minor's body, including bite
marks and nail scratches. The cause of death was determined to be hanging, they
added.
According
to ASP (South) Anshika Verma, the incident occurred on April 27 when the girl,
a Class 8 student, was discovered hanging at her house in Deoria Abdullaganj
village, which is part of the Mirganj police station area. Initially, the
family reported the death as a suicide and was hesitant to seek police
assistance. The autopsy report altered the trajectory of the inquiry. It
verified sexual assault and reported serious bodily harm. Verma verified the cause
of death as hanging.
The
victim's younger sister made a breakthrough in the case by telling police that
the accused, Zeeshan (26), a resident of the same village, routinely loitered
around the minor's school and reportedly provided her modest quantities of
money to keep his interactions with her private. According to police, on the
day of the event, the accused reportedly lured and sexually abused the kid. The
youngster was distressed by the tragedy and later committed suicide while her
mother went to the market, according to investigators. Based on
technological monitoring, CCTV video, and family testimonials, we determined
Zeeshan's participation. He was apprehended near the Mirganj weekly market,
they stated. On Wednesday, he was produced before court, which sent him to
prison.
