06 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that strength

and capability are essential for security, peace and prosperity. Addressing the

gathering on the third and concluding day of North Tech Symposium in Prayagraj

on Wednesday he emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government is

developing the country’s strategic and defence capabilities not to attack

anyone, but to ensure its own security.

While

Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance to build capabilities in surveillance,

communications and other emerging technologies, he applauded the Union

Government for its unwavering resolve to achieve the goal of Aatmanirbhar

Bharat. He warned of the dangers of over dependence on external sources for

critical inputs and security, noting that the West Asia situation is an example

of such vulnerability. He hailed the progress made towards self-reliance in

defence manufacturing, with the nation moving assuredly towards the target of

Rs 50,000 crore worth of defence exports. He said that UP has made a

significant contribution to this with investment proposals worth over Rs 35,000

crore being implemented in the six nodes of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor

(UPDIC). He mentioned the incentives and support provided through the state's

Defence and Aerospace policy to industries.

The

Chief Minister delineated the various new industries set-up in the UPDIC

including BrahMos, precision engineering instruments, small arms and armaments,

missiles, military textiles and others. He assured the Defence Forces and

industry of all possible support from the state government to build a defence

manufacturing corridor comprising a young and skilled manpower, diverse base of

over 96 lakh MSMEs and availability of land bank among others.

The

Chief Minister also said that the state government has taken various

initiatives to provide market ready and industry ready workforce for defence

industry such as establishing centres of excellence. He added that the state is

now home to more than 21,000 start-ups. “Uttar Pradesh has now shed its

reputation of a BIMARU state and has established its identity as an engine of

growth,” he said.

Yogi

Adityanath highlighted the role that law and order has played in the progress

of Uttar Pradesh. Ensuring that the rule of law prevails at the

grassroots is essential for good governance in the state,” he said, adding that

the zero tolerance policy towards crime and terrorism has led to growing

investment in UP. The resolve to establish rule of law has meant not only that

the UP model of governance has caught the attention of the nation, but also

that the state has one of the best infrastructure networks in the country,

including highways, expressways, railways and communication. It is due to the

improved security situation in the state, that the UP government is able to

implement its policies at the grassroots in a time bound manner without any

external influence. He said that the growth of the defence manufacturing

corridor is a consequence of this dual focus on growing investment and a better

Law and Order situation.

The

Chief Minister applauded the role of the North Tech Symposium as a platform,

not only to showcase products, but also to share ideas. He said that Raksha

Triveni Sangam provides a platform for the convergence of ideas, innovation and

implementation, which symbolises the transformation of Uttar Pradesh. Speaking

of the theme of North Tech Symposium 2026 with the theme ‘Raksha Triveni

Sangam’, he said the event was a ‘Sangam’ of technology, knowledge and

innovation. Recalling

ancient heritage of Prayagraj as a fountain of knowledge and justice, Yogi

Adityanath applauded the role of Raksha Triveni Sangam in establishing a new

identity of the city as a union technology, knowledge and innovation. He thanked

the central and northern commands of the Indian Army for organising North Tech

Symposium in Prayagraj.

The

Chief Minister also visited various stalls in the exhibition and interacted

with industry vendors. The three day symposium was organised by the Central

Command and Northern Command of the Indian Army, in collaboration of the

Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) from 4th to 6th May, 2026. 284

vendors and industry partners set up their stalls in an exhibition where

cutting edge technology and instruments were on display.

General

Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command Lt. Gen. Anindya

Sengupta hailed the triple helix model of collaboration between industry,

academia and Armed Forces in his address. Lt. Gen. Sengupta also expressed hope

that the UP Defence Corridor will become a knowledge corridor and become a hub

for development of new defence technology. He also acknowledged the success of

UP Defence Industrial Corridor and UPEIDA in establishing defence and aerospace

manufacturing centres in the state. He shared that Central Command has

undertaken 28 research and development projects in the last year leading to an

investment of INR 600 crores in the state. Mentioning the ambition of one

trillion dollar economy, the Army Commander said that UPDIC is playing a major

role to achieve this goal. The Army Commander said that the Raksha Triveni

Sangam stands as a testament to the close partnership between the civil

goverment and the Armed Forces, and thanked all stakeholders for their role in

making North Tech Symposium a success.

Lt.

Gen. Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C, Northern Command, applauded the role of Uttar

Pradesh in the growth of defence manufacturing, industries and expressways in

the country. He highlighted that cutting edge defence capabilities can be

developed only through a partnership between private industry and government

institutions, as well Armed Forces. UP

Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, senior officials of the Indian Army,

SIDM, academia and industry representatives were present at the symposium,
