Guwahati, 04 May (HS). A celebratory atmosphere prevailed at the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in the Basistha area of Guwahati on Monday following the party’s remarkable performance in the Assam assembly elections 2026. The party headquarters witnessed scenes akin to a festival, with jubilant workers and leaders marking the occasion.

State BJP president Dilip Saikia expressed gratitude to the people of Assam for giving the party an opportunity to form the government for a third consecutive term. He stated that the BJP would continue to prioritize its policy of inclusive development while forming the government in coordination with its allies.

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with other senior party leaders, was present at the state office and extended congratulations to the winning candidates. However, official results for a few assembly constituencies are still awaited.

It is noteworthy that as early trends began favoring the BJP in the morning, party leaders and workers from across the state started gathering at the headquarters. Celebrations intensified with workers playing with colors, distributing sweets and showcasing Assam’s cultural heritage through traditional attire and musical instruments within the office campus.------------
