New Delhi, 04 May (H.S.): The Delhi High Court has received a fresh petition from terror funding case accused and parliamentarian Engineer Rashid seeking modification of the interim bail conditions granted to visit his ailing father. The High Court will hear the petition tomorrow, May 5.

On April 28, the High Court had granted Engineer Rashid one week’s interim bail on a personal bond of one lakh rupees to visit his sick father. The court had imposed conditions that during the interim bail period, Engineer Rashid would remain confined to the hospital where his father was admitted. He was prohibited from interacting with anyone except family members, required to keep his mobile phone active, and two officers would accompany him with expenses borne by the NIA. The court had directed him to surrender after one week.

His father has now been brought to Delhi’s AIIMS hospital for treatment. The petition states that Engineer Rashid is stranded in Srinagar due to the interim bail conditions restricting him to that location. Following his father’s transfer to Delhi AIIMS, he has sought amendment of the interim bail to allow him to visit his father at AIIMS Delhi.

Earlier, on April 24, the Patiala House Court had dismissed Engineer Rashid’s petition. He had filed stating that his father was ill and on ventilator support. Previously, the Patiala House Court had permitted Engineer Rashid, who is in custody, to participate in the parliamentary session. The court had allowed him to attend the entire session from January 28 to April 2. In November 2025 as well, the court had granted permission to participate in the parliamentary session. Engineer Rashid had also been allowed to vote in the Vice-Presidential election held in September 2025.
