New Delhi, May 26 (H.S.): A symposium held on May 25 in Tokyo to discuss cooperation on workforce mobility between India and Japan has given fresh momentum to bilateral collaboration in this sector.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said that the symposium was jointly organized in Tokyo by the Embassy of India in Japan and ASEAN One Company Limited, Japan. The Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Vandana Gurnani, addressed the event.

The Ministry stated that the symposium brought together Japanese policymakers, industry leaders, academic institutions, and stakeholders associated with workforce mobility to deliberate on long-term cooperation in skilled labour mobility and human resource development between India and Japan.

In her address, the Secretary highlighted India’s growing role as a trusted global workforce partner. She underscored the Government of India’s commitment to developing transparent, ethical, and inclusive international labour mobility pathways.

The programme concluded with an address by Toshiaki Nishikawa, President and CEO of ASEAN Group Company Limited, who emphasized the importance of long-term people-to-people cooperation between India and Japan. Expressing optimism about future workforce collaboration, he reiterated the commitment to realize the Japan–India human exchange programme involving 50,000 participants over the next 10 years.
