Guwahati, 25 May (HS): A State-Level Conference of Principal Census Officers for Phase-I of Census 2027 was held at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota.
Officials informed that Census 2027 will be India’s first fully digital Census and will be conducted in two phases — House-listing & Housing Census and Population Enumeration. Assam will conduct Phase-I from August 17 to September 15, 2026, while self-enumeration will be available from August 2 through the official Census portal.
The meeting reviewed preparations related to training, digital infrastructure, supervision and public awareness. Around 83,535 enumerators and supervisors are expected to be deployed during the Phase-I exercise across Assam. -----------
