New Delhi, May 22 (H.S.): The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for stakeholders to submit comments and counter-comments on its consultation paper regarding the expansion of public Wi-Fi networks across the country. Industry associations and various stakeholders will now be able to submit their responses by the revised dates.
According to the Ministry of Communications, TRAI took this decision following requests received from industry bodies and other stakeholders. They had sought additional time from the regulator to prepare detailed responses on this important subject, and the request has been accepted.
Under the revised schedule issued by TRAI, the last date for submitting comments on the public Wi-Fi consultation paper has been extended from May 25, 2026, to June 1, 2026. Similarly, the deadline for submitting counter-comments has been extended from June 8, 2026, to June 15, 2026.
For any information or clarification related to the consultation paper, stakeholders may directly contact Dr. Abdul Qayoom, Advisor (Broadband and Policy Analysis) at the regulatory authority, on telephone number +91-11-20907757.
It is noteworthy that the consultation paper was originally issued by TRAI on April 27, 2026, with the objective of strengthening and improving accessibility to India’s public Wi-Fi infrastructure.
