
New Delhi, May 22 (H.S.): Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar on Friday launched the “Jeevan” app and the “Shatayu” caregiver dashboard, aimed at strengthening support systems for senior citizens across the country.
According to the Ministry, “Jeevan” stands for Joint Elderly Empowerment and Virtual Assistance Network app, while “Shatayu” is a holistic care support and training geriatric caregiver dashboard designed for senior citizens. The theme of the programme was “Creating a Smoothly Functioning Care Economy.” A major highlight of the event was the launch of digital initiatives focused on the welfare of the elderly.
During the programme, the Minister also shared the Ministry’s upcoming initiatives and roadmap aimed at making the care ecosystem for elderly citizens more robust, accessible, and efficient.
The “Jeevan” app offers a wide range of features designed to address the needs and concerns of senior citizens. These include information about government schemes and welfare programmes, emergency assistance, support services, and details of senior citizen homes supported by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. The platform has been developed with a user-friendly interface, simple navigation, and accessibility-focused features.
Another digital platform launched at the event, the “Shatayu” dashboard, provides information such as the availability of geriatric caregivers in specific districts and states for elderly care services.
According to the Ministry, the initiative aims to develop a comprehensive framework for caregiving services by leveraging technology and community participation to meet the needs of India’s growing elderly population.
