The domestic stock market opened on a positive note on Friday, the last trading day of the week, as investors awaited signs of progress in the peace talks between the United States and Iran amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Both major benchmark indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, were trading higher. The Sensex was up by 325 points, while the Nifty also gained 90 points.
At the start of trading, the Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading higher by 324.95 points, or 0.43 percent, at 75,508.31. The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trending higher by 96.10 points, or 0.41 percent, at 23,750.80.
In today’s trade, buying was seen in banking and realty stocks. Meanwhile, in early trade, the rupee strengthened by 6 paise against the dollar to 96.30. In addition, crude oil prices remained around $105 per barrel. Experts said investors are also waiting for progress in the peace talks between the United States and Iran.
It is noteworthy that on the previous trading day, Thursday, the Sensex had closed lower by 135.03 points, or 0.18 percent, at 75,183.36. Similarly, the Nifty had ended with a decline of 4.30 points, or 0.018 percent, at 23,654.70.
