New Delhi/Kabul, May 22 (H.S.): India has dispatched a consignment of 20 tonnes of critical medical supplies to Kabul to strengthen Afghanistan’s child immunisation programme. The shipment primarily includes materials required for the production and maintenance of BCG, tetanus and diphtheria vaccines.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for Ministry of External Affairs, said in a post on X that India remains committed to supporting the friendly people of Afghanistan in the healthcare sector.
It is noteworthy that Afghanistan is currently facing a severe shortage of healthcare facilities and essential medicines. The medical assistance sent by India is expected to help ensure the uninterrupted continuation of routine immunisation programmes for children in the country.
The support is also expected to reduce the risk of serious diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus and tuberculosis among Afghan children.
