New Delhi, 02 May (H.S.): Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh will lead the Indian delegation at the second International Migration Review Forum (IMRF), scheduled from May 4 to 8 in New York, USA, under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly.
The International Migration Review Forum (IMRF) serves as the primary intergovernmental global platform for discussing the implementation of the Global Compact on Migration and its interlinkages with the Sustainable Development Goals, while sharing progress.
The second IMRF is being convened as a continuation of the first IMRF held in 2022, in which India participated actively and made significant contributions to safeguarding and promoting the interests of its migrant community.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the forum will feature four interactive multi-stakeholder roundtable conferences, one policy debate, and one plenary session. It will culminate in the adoption of a Progress Declaration.
During the visit, Singh will deliver India's national statement at the IMRF plenary session in New York. India will also organize and host a side event titled ‘Leveraging Digital Innovation in Migration Governance - India’s e-Migrate Experience’.
The Minister of State is expected to meet senior United Nations officials and ministers from other member countries participating in the IMRF during this visit.
