Lucknow,
02 May (HS): To increase the general knowledge of children, an initiative is
being taken to connect them with newspapers. Also, the fear of mathematics will
be removed through games, puzzles and mathematics kits. The objective of this
scheme is to develop the students holistically and give them a better
understanding of various subjects. From the session 2026-27, children in the
council schools of the state will get an opportunity to learn something new
every day. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has
prepared a calendar of daily activities for the entire year, which will soon be
implemented in all the schools. This initiative is being considered unique in
itself.
This
calendar, designed to promote innovation-based learning, has been named
Arunodaya. Each day, children will be informed about a topic, such
as the environment, health, birth anniversaries of great personalities, rivers,
vocabulary, art, stories and poems, patriotism, and independence.
These
activities will be held during the morning assembly. The relevant teacher or
headmaster will provide information about the subject and conduct related
activities. Importantly, each subject has a QR code attached, allowing teachers
to easily access additional information. The calendar has been developed separately
for primary and upper primary levels, so that children can access material
appropriate to their class.
All-round
development will take place through various subjects: The calendar includes
topics ranging from sharing holiday experiences with children to the benefits
of seasonal fruits and vegetables, alphabets, word formation, antonyms,
storytelling, road safety, traffic sense, cleanliness, nutrition and health.
In
addition, information will be provided on rainwater conservation, tree
planting, flood protection, communicable disease prevention, school etiquette,
musical instruments, and folk songs. Children will also be taught good habits,
sensitivity toward animals and birds, life values, nature, disaster management,
knowledge of the seasons, and science through humorous play.
Initiative
to connect with newspapers also: According to Dr. Pawan Sachan, Joint Director
of SCERT, children will also be exposed to newspapers to enhance their general
knowledge. They will be made aware of the usefulness of new and old newspapers,
understanding news, and engaging in discussions about them. Additionally,
games, puzzles, math kits, and information about Indian mathematicians will be
provided to alleviate the fear of math. This initiative aims to foster
children's all-round development, enabling them to gain comprehensive knowledge
of various subjects. It will soon be implemented in schools across the state.
