
Nagaon (Assam), 02 May (HS): The district administration of Nagaon has imposed prohibitory restrictions under Section 163 BNSS to maintain public order during the counting of votes for the 2026 Assembly elections.
The order, issued by District Magistrate Devasish Sharma, bans the assembly of five or more persons within a 100-metre radius of key schools designated as counting-related zones, including Nagaon Govt. Boys’ HS School, Nagaon Govt. Girls’ HS School, and Dawson HS & MP School.
Authorities have also prohibited the use and sale of firecrackers beyond permissible noise limits, aerial fireworks, victory processions without permission and the use of loudspeakers without prior approval. Carrying weapons, firearms and other hazardous items has been strictly barred.
The order further restricts fireworks in silence zones such as hospitals, educational institutions and religious places, as well as within 100 metres of petrol pumps and sensitive installations.
Officials on election duty, including police and armed forces personnel, have been exempted. The restrictions came into immediate effect from April 30 and will remain in force until further notice.------------
