Guwahati, 19 May (HS): The Assam Police Crime Branch has issued a summons to AICC General Secretary Randeep Surjewala, asking him to appear before the agency on May 23 in connection with a case filed by Assam Chief Minister’s wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma.

According to the police sources, the summons was issued during the course of investigation into allegations that fabricated and misleading information regarding Riniki Bhuyan Sharma had been circulated.

The development comes after alleged disclosures made during the questioning of Congress leader Pawan Khera by the Crime Branch. Sources said Khera reportedly stated during marathon interrogation that the information had been provided by Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi.

Investigators are probing the alleged chain of communication and the circulation of the purported false information linked to the case.-----------
