16 May (HS): Defence Minister Rajnath Singh offered condolences for the deaths

caused by severe rains, thunderstorms, and lightning in Uttar Pradesh and other

regions, noting that the Centre is offering all possible support to affected

states. In a post on X, Singh stated, I have felt immense sorrow and pain

upon hearing news of lives lost due to heavy rains and storms that have struck

Uttar Pradesh and some other parts of the country in recent days. I'd want to

extend my sympathies to all of the afflicted families. The Central Government

is providing all feasible support to states affected by heavy rains and storms.

The statements came as Uttar Pradesh Relief

Commissioner Harikesh Bhaskar said that 104 people have perished throughout the

state in the last 36 to 48 hours owing to persistent rain, lightning, and thunderstorms.
