14 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged all districts
to give information on storm, rain, and lightning damage every three hours and
asked authorities to publicize relief efforts, including compensation
disbursement, on social media, according to an official statement issued on
Thursday. On Wednesday, rain and thunderstorms stormed over Uttar Pradesh,
killing at least 89 people, wounding 53, and destroying 87 buildings. According
to authorities, up to 114 cattle were slaughtered. Districts have been asked to
give status updates every three hours. Information on compensation
distribution, rescue operations, and other relief efforts should also be
published on social media sites, according to the statement.
The
chief minister took note of the damage caused by storms, rain, and lightning
strikes during the last 24 hours and directed officials to provide prompt help
to impacted families, according to the statement.
According
to the statement, reports of human injuries, cattle losses, and agricultural
damage came from at least 19 districts, including Barabanki, Bahraich, Kanpur
Dehat, Basti, Sambhal, Hardoi, and Unnao. Several houses also damaged due to
inclement weather.
Adityanath
expressed his condolences for the loss of life and asked DM’s and other concerned
authorities to visit the affected regions and guarantee swift relief efforts. He
directed authorities to prioritize damage surveys in collaboration with
relevant departments so that compensation may be given as soon as possible,
according to the statement. The chief minister also requested that all district
magistrate’s priority relief and rescue activities, according to reports.
