New Delhi, 13 May (H.S.):

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over‑rate during Tuesday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Gujarat Titans, the 56th fixture of IPL 2026 played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which governs minimum over‑rate requirements. As this was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first over‑rate offence of the season, the captain was sanctioned with the specified fine of Rs 12 lakh.

In the match, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a humiliating 82‑run defeat to Gujarat Titans. Batting first, Gujarat posted 168 for 5 in their 20 overs. Hyderabad were bowled out for 86 in 14.5 overs while chasing 169.

Gujarat’s innings had begun poorly, with captain Shubman Gill departing for 5 and Jos Buttler for 7, but contributions from Sai Sudharsan (61) and Washington Sundar (50) helped the team reach a competitive total.

Hyderabad’s chase collapsed early; Mohammed Siraj struck in the first over to remove Travis Head for a duck, and Kagiso Rabada’s incisive bowling dismantled the top order. Skipper Pat Cummins top‑scored for his side with 19, but could not avert the rout.

Kagiso Rabada returned figures of 3 for 28 and was named Player of the Match, while Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna also claimed three wickets apiece with impressive spells.

The victory propelled Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans to the top of the points table.
