New Delhi, 13 May (H.S.): The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 became even more exciting on Tuesday after Gujarat Titans’ victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, producing notable shifts in both the Orange Cap and Purple Cap standings. Several significant changes were visible among the leading batters and bowlers.

Gujarat Titans’ opening batter B. Sai Sudarshan made a big surge in the Orange Cap race with a superb 61 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. It was his third successive fifty and his fourth half‑century in the last five matches. [He briefly became the season’s leading run‑scorer, but was later overtaken by SRH wicketkeeper‑batter Heinrich Klaasen, who added 14 runs in the match to take his tally to 508, retaining the Orange Cap.]

Sai Sudarshan now lies second with 501 runs. Only Klaasen and Sai Sudarshan have crossed the 500‑run mark this season.

SRH’s Abhishek Sharma occupies third place in the Orange Cap standings with 481 runs, although he managed only six runs against GT in the recent fixture. Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul is fourth with 477 runs, while Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill is fifth with 467 runs.

South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada produced an excellent spell against Sunrisers Hyderabad, taking 3 for 28, and in doing so drew level with Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the Purple Cap race. Rabada’s dismissals—Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and R. Smaran—dented SRH’s batting during the powerplay, bringing his season tally to 21 wickets, level with Bhuvneshwar.

However, due to a superior economy rate (7.46), Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar still retains the Purple Cap, while Rabada’s economy stands at 9.15.

Chennai Super Kings’ Anshul Kamboj is third with 19 wickets. Lucknow Super Giants’ Prince Yadav, Gujarat Titans’ Rashid Khan and SRH’s Ishan Malinga are jointly next on 16 wickets each; Rashid took one wicket against SRH in this match while Ishan Malinga went wicketless.

Two other Gujarat Titans bowlers made significant jumps. Prasidh Krishna, returning after nearly a month out, picked up two wickets to move his season tally to 14. Meanwhile, Jason Holder has impressed with 13 wickets in just six matches. Prasidh and Holder are placed ninth and tenth respectively.
