In his message on X, the Prime Minister stated, Best wishes to all fellow citizens on Buddha Purnima. On this sacred occasion that inspires us to follow the path of peace, compassion, and goodwill, let us reaffirm our resolve to embrace the life values of Lord Buddha.
He also shared a Sanskrit subhashita: नान्तर्बहिश्च लोकेषु त्वात्मानं दृष्टवान् क्वचित्। आष्टाङ्गिकेन मार्गेण परमां शान्तिमाययौ॥
This verse signifies that one should realize there exists no permanent soul or entity either within or without. By following Lord Buddha's Noble Eightfold Path—right view, right intention, and right conduct—one attains liberation from all suffering and supreme peace.
Prime Minister Modi expressed hope that Lord Buddha's teachings would further strengthen feelings of happiness and unity in society.
