Bhubaneswar, 01 May (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid rich tributes to eminent Santali scholar and cultural reformer Pandit Raghunath Murmu on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

Marking the occasion, the Chief Minister offered floral tributes at the statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu near the State Assembly in Bhubaneswar. Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy was also present during the ceremony.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister expressed his deep respect, stating that Pandit Raghunath Murmu—revered as “Guru Gomke”—was a distinguished Santali litterateur, reformer, and the creator of the Ol Chiki script. He highlighted Murmu’s unparalleled contribution in preserving cultural identity and giving the Santali language a distinct global recognition.

The Chief Minister further called upon people to draw inspiration from Murmu’s ideals and reaffirm their commitment to preserving the rich cultural heritage while working towards building a progressive and inclusive society.
