April 9 (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath honored the fifth Sikh
Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj, for his martyrdom and devotion. He
described his sacrifice in the face of Mughal monarch Jahangir's abuses as a
symbol of righteousness, truth, and justice. Yogi considered the compilation of
the Guru Granth Sahib and the construction of the Golden Temple in Amritsar as
heavenly messengers of peace. The Chief Minister stated that Guru Arjan Dev Ji
refused to accept Jahangir's crimes in Lahore and paid the ultimate sacrifice
for religious freedom. He viewed Sikh history as part of the country's
beautiful history, and he saw the Gurus' sacrifices as an inspiration to the
nation. CM Yogi emphasized the unshakable ties between Hinduism and Sikhism,
stating that the tradition of Gurus dedicated their life to the country and
Sanatan Dharma.
In
a post on X, he mentioned, “On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary
of the great saint, the fifth Guru of the Sikh sect, Shri Arjan Dev Ji Maharaj,
I offer my heartfelt tributes to him and heartfelt congratulations to all his
devotees and the people of the state. Following the path of righteousness,
truth, and justice, he lit the eternal flame of faith with his sacrifice. The
compilation of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the construction of the sacred
Golden Temple are the divine messages of his harmonious, compassionate, and
dedicated life.”
