
Kolkata, 09 April (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee is once again contesting from the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency. In her election affidavit, she has claimed that despite serving as Chief Minister for the past 15 years, she continues to maintain a simple lifestyle.
On Wednesday, Banerjee took out a rally from her Kalighat residence and marched to the Survey Building in Alipore, where she filed her nomination papers. Along with her nomination, she submitted an affidavit detailing her income, assets, bank deposits, jewellery and educational qualifications.
According to the affidavit, Banerjee’s total movable assets are valued at Rs 1,537,509.71. She has declared that she does not own any vehicle.
The affidavit also states that she does not own any agricultural or non-agricultural land. She has also declared that she does not own any residential property and has not taken any loans.
As per the disclosure, her total income for the financial year 2024–25 was Rs 2,321,570. Her income for 2023–24 was Rs 2,072,740, while she had declared an income of Rs 3,814,410 for 2021–22 and Rs 1,547,845 for 2020–21.
At the time of filing her nomination, she had Rs 75,700 in cash. She maintains a personal account with Indian Bank with a balance of Rs 1,236,209.71.
An additional Rs 40,000 has been kept in a separate account in the same bank for election expenses, taking her total bank deposits to Rs 1,276,209.71.
She also received a TDS refund of Rs 40,600 in the financial year 2025–26. In terms of jewellery, she has declared possession of 9.750 grams of gold, with an estimated value of Rs 145,000.
As per her educational qualifications, Banerjee completed her postgraduate studies from the University of Calcutta in 1977, with the examination held in 1979. She later obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College in 1982.
The affidavit further states that no criminal cases are pending against her and that she has not been convicted in any criminal matter.
