Guwahati, 09 April (HS): Voting for the Assam Legislative Assembly Elections 2026 began at 7:00 AM on Thursday, marking the commencement of the democratic exercise across the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to all citizens to actively participate in the electoral process.

In a message shared on social media, the Chief Minister extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of the “festival of democracy” and encouraged every eligible voter to exercise their right. He emphasized that election day is an opportunity for citizens to celebrate their role in the world’s largest democracy.

Highlighting the importance of each vote, Dr Sarma stated that every single vote contributes to building a strong and prosperous Assam. He urged people to come forward and participate in large numbers to strengthen democratic values.

Congratulating first-time voters, especially the youth, the Chief Minister encouraged them to become an integral part of the democratic system. He also called upon citizens not only to cast their votes but to motivate others to do the same.------------
