Kolkata, 09 April (H.S.): Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Thursday held a strategic meeting in Kharagpur to strengthen the party organisation and review poll preparedness.

Banerjee conducted separate meetings with leaders of the Ghatal and Medinipur organisational districts, stressing the need for unity and coordinated efforts in the run-up to the elections.

During the meeting, held at a city hotel, he called for an end to long-standing factionalism and internal differences, urging party leaders and workers to fight the elections in a united manner. He emphasised that senior and grassroots workers must be given due respect and included in the party’s electoral strategy.

He also appealed to party workers to put aside internal disputes and work together in a spirit of cooperation and solidarity.

Among those present at the meeting were district presidents Sujay Hazra and Ajit Maity, Member of Parliament Deepak Adhikari, and leaders June Malia and Manas Bhunia, among others.

Notably, in the 2021 Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress had won 13 out of 15 seats in Paschim Medinipur district. This time, the party has set a target of winning all 15 seats, including seven in Ghatal and eight in Medinipur.

According to party sources, the meeting has infused fresh enthusiasm among party workers ahead of the elections.
