
Mumbai, 08 Apr (HS): Fraudster Ashok Kharat has been
remanded to Magisterial Custody for 14 days. The Nashik District Court,
however, directed the police officers to present him in the court again on
Thursday based an application by the police.
Government Pleader Shailendra Bagde said that Kharat
was presented in the court on Wednesday through video conferencing, as his
police custody expired on April 8. Kharat was arrested on March 17, on charges
of sexual exploitation of women and others, Investigating Officer Kiran Kumar
Suryavanshi was also present in the court.
The Special Investigating Team (SIT) will present
Kharat in the court on Thursday through virtual mode from the Nashik Jail.
As many as eight cases of sexual expolitation and
three relating to cheating have been filed against Kharat. The enquiry is being
conducted through an SIT headed by IPS officer Tejasvini Satpute.
