New Delhi, 08 April (H.S.):
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed profound grief over the passing of party veteran and former Union Minister Mohsina Kidwai.
Kidwai, aged 94, died today at her residence in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, after a prolonged battle with age-related ailments.
In an X post, Kharge described her as a steadfast guiding force for the party, having devoted over six decades to national service. A member of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, as well as the Congress Working Committee, she provided direction during challenging times; her loss is irreparable for the Congress and the nation.
Rahul Gandhi hailed her as a senior, loyal leader whose life embodied public service, inspiring generations—especially women—through her simplicity, grace, and dignified political career.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra recalled Kidwai's wisdom and guidance, noting her pioneering role as one of Uttar Pradesh's few female PCC presidents. She traversed every corner of the state, forging lasting ties with grassroots workers, exemplifying courage, ideological commitment, patriotism, and kindness; condolences to her family.
