New Delhi, 08 April (H.S.):
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday described the Union Cabinet's latest approvals as pivotal steps for India's farmers, clean energy ecosystem, and infrastructure development. In a social media post, he highlighted these decisions as key to addressing global challenges while prioritizing national growth.
Emphasizing farmers' welfare as the government's top priority amid worldwide headwinds, PM Modi noted the Cabinet's approval to increase Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) rates for the Kharif 2026 season (April-September). This move ensures fertilizers remain affordable, bolstering agricultural productivity and farmer incomes.
Turning to clean energy, the Prime Minister spotlighted the greenlit Kamla Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh. He said it would strengthen India's clean energy framework, enhance power supply, infrastructure, and community development in the state.
The Cabinet also approved the Kala-II Hydroelectric Project, which will fortify electricity supply in the Northeast, promote sustainable energy production, and generate local employment and growth opportunities.
Additionally, PM Modi praised the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project as a transformative infrastructure upgrade for the city. It promises expanded connectivity, reduced traffic congestion, and smoother daily lives for residents.
According to the Prime Minister, these initiatives collectively advance holistic national development, sustainable energy goals, and improved quality of life.
Notably, under PM Modi's chairmanship, the Cabinet today cleared multiple high-value projects totaling over ₹1.74 lakh crore. These include revised NBS rates for Kharif 2026, the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 expansion, and cost revisions for the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery.
