Bareilly,
April 8 (HS): A 16-year-old girl was reportedly raped by seven individuals in a
café in the Bhojipura district, police said on Wednesday. On April 2, a girl
was on her way to school when she was compelled by one of the accused to ride
his bike to a cafe where others were already present.
According to Deputy
Superintendent of Police (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra, the student was
reportedly frightened by the transmission of a video of a previous sexual
assault. According to a FIR filed at Bhojipura Police Station, the suspects
were identified as Asad Haider alias Karan, Chand, restaurant owner Saifi,
Samir Ahmad, Banti, and two unknown individuals. Mishra said that on March 19,
Asad took the girl to a room above the 'Saifi Cafe' and sexually abused her
while taping the incident.
He
allegedly threatened to release the video on social media if she notified
anybody According to the DSP, the girl was on her way to school to pick up her
mark sheet on April 2 when Chand stopped her and threatened to broadcast the
film online if she would not meet Asad. He led her to the cafe, where she was raped
by the accused. In a condition of despair, the girl returned home with the aid
of a bystander. Mishra claimed she concealed the event from her family for two
days out of fear, only speaking out after relatives noted her deteriorating
state.
On
April 5, Bhojipura area in-charge Rajiv Kumar Singh filed a FIR against the
seven accused under provisions of the BNS and the Protection of Children from
Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. A manhunt is underway for the accused who are
still at large.
