Karbi Anglong (Assam), 07 April (HS): In preparation for the upcoming assembly elections, 21 polling teams were dispatched on Tuesday from Diphu Government College to remote and hilly polling stations across three assembly constituencies in Karbi Anglong district, two days ahead of polling.
The polling personnel have been assigned to 21 polling stations located in difficult and inaccessible terrains under Bokajan (No. 108), Howraghat (No. 109) and Diphu (No. 110) constituencies. District Election Officer Aranyak Saikia flagged off the teams and extended his best wishes for their safe journey and successful conduct of election duties.
Addressing the polling staff, Saikia acknowledged the challenges of their assignment, stating that their dedication and sense of responsibility form the backbone of free and fair elections. He emphasized that their sincere efforts would ensure that every eligible voter is able to exercise their democratic right.
According to official data, a total of 11,021 voters are registered across these 21 polling stations, including 5,619 male and 5,402 female voters. Among them, Bokajan constituency has eight polling stations with 3,483 voters, Howraghat has 10 polling stations with 6,468 voters and Diphu constituency’s Jawlian area has three polling stations with 1,070 voters.
These polling stations are located in remote hill areas with challenging accessibility. Under normal conditions, some locations can only be reached by four-wheel drive vehicles, while during adverse weather, especially rainfall, transportation is severely disrupted. In such situations, polling personnel often have to trek long distances on difficult terrain to reach their designated polling stations.--------------
