New Delhi, 07 April (H.S.):

Rapper-singer Badshah appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday amid backlash over his song Tattiri, tendering an unconditional apology to Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar for lyrics deemed offensive to women's dignity.

Director Joban Sandhu, Mahavir Singh, and producer Hiten were also present during the hearing.

Post-hearing, Rahatkar told media the song's lyrics and presentation wounded women's modesty and decorum, directing Badshah and associates against repetition. All parties submitted written apologies, expressing regret for societal harm.

Badshah pledged commitment to women's empowerment, promising a positive song on the theme within four months and no future involvement in similar content. He offered to sponsor education for 50 economically disadvantaged girls.

The NCW had taken suo motu cognisance of media reports alleging obscenity on March 19, issuing summons to Badshah and the team.
