

Guwahati, 30 April (HS): Vidya Bharati’s Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, organised a dignified felicitation ceremony at the auditorium of Pragjyotishpur University on Wednesday, where meritorious students from 527 Shankardev Shishu Niketans across the state were honoured.
The programme commenced at 10:30 am with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana. General Secretary of Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, Jagannath Rajbanshi delivered the welcome address and highlighted the objective of the event.
On the occasion, Jyotirmoy Das of Shankardev Shishu Niketan, Patacharkuchi, who secured the first rank in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination with 98.5% marks, was specially felicitated. Other students who scored above 95%—including Tanmay Bora, Nikita Devi, Kaushik Senapati, Parthapratim Lahkar, Amlan Bhuyan, Tanuska Parashar and Krishnakshi Kalita—were also honoured.
Chief Secretary of Assam, Dr Ravi Kota, attending as the chief guest, emphasised the importance of hard work, discipline and dedication towards goals. He urged students to strive for excellence while remaining responsible towards society.
Other speakers lauded Vidya Bharati’s contribution to holistic education and the all-round development of students. Among those present were Lieutenant General (Retd) Rana Pratap Kalita, President of Shankardev Education and Research Foundation, and Dr Smriti Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor of Pragjyotishpur University, along with several distinguished guests.
Shishu Shiksha Samiti’s publicity coordinator Mukuteshwar Goswami said on Thursday that, for the first time, 51 students securing the highest marks in Assamese, Sanskrit and Music were also felicitated by the alumni association. Principals of institutions achieving 100% results and teachers who guided students to first division results were also honoured.
Earlier, alumni association in-charge Gaurav Kalita, through the ‘Bibhayan’ platform, called upon former students to unite and contribute towards the promotion of mother tongue, Indian knowledge traditions, culture and nation-building.-----------
