New Delhi, 30 April (H.S.):

The Delhi government has intensified efforts under 'TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (TB MBA) 2.0', aligned with National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) and Sustainable Development Goals targeting complete TB eradication by 2030. Since national launch March 24, 2026, Delhi expanded special initiatives focusing on early TB detection, comprehensive screening, and complete care.

Under this initiative, Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital (South-West District) Chest Clinic organised 'Ayushman Arogya Shivir' at Vikas Nagar's Ayushman Arogya Mandir, attended by Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh who inaugurated dedicated TB screening and treatment centre. This new facility offers free NAAT testing, screening, and treatment, ensuring accessible quality care for TB patients.

Interacting with chest X-ray screening attendees, Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh stressed early TB detection importance, including sub-clinical identification, to improve treatment outcomes and prevent spread.

Minister stated Delhi committed to active, community-based approach for TB elimination. Early screening, timely diagnosis, and complete treatment form core strategy pillars for TB-free capital achievement.

Vikas Nagar camp saw overwhelming participation: 102 chest X-rays, 125 random blood sugar/haemoglobin tests, 156 blood pressure checks. TB early detection/treatment awareness activities included street plays, IEC pamphlets distribution, local announcements.

TB MBA 2.0 Delhi TB elimination efforts showed remarkable progress March 24-April 30, 2026. City organised 850 Ayushman Arogya camps (198 high-risk areas), screening 65,264+ people: 46,950 chest X-rays, 21,683 NAAT tests identifying/registering 9,432 TB patients.

Beyond screening/treatment, programme focused patient support/prevention: 7,117 household contacts received preventive therapy; 3,461 patients got 'Ni-kshay Mitra' nutrition support via 'Food Basket'. Community engagement strengthened with 42 new Ni-kshay Mitras registered; 127 public representatives (MLAs, MPs, councillors) actively participated.
