Kamrup (Assam), 03 April (HS): BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Friday campaigned in Kamalpur in support of NDA candidate Diganta Kalita for the upcoming Assembly elections, highlighting the achievements of the central and state governments.

Addressing an election rally, Nabin said that the Narendra Modi-led government has been consistently working towards development and welfare over the past ten years. He assured that tea garden workers would be provided wages of ₹500, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving their livelihoods.

Taking a dig at past leadership, he alleged that the Jawaharlal Nehru government had neglected the Northeast during the 1962 period. He stressed that correct leadership decisions are crucial for a nation’s progress.

Nabin also criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he had disrespected Assam’s traditional ‘gamocha’ during a Republic Day-related event. He further stated that the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government has provided free housing to 22 lakh poor people under welfare schemes.

The BJP leader asserted that the next BJP-led government would implement the Uniform Civil Code soon after the elections. He also launched a sharp attack on the Congress, accusing the party of failing to deliver on development and governance.-----------
