Lebanon/Tel Aviv, 29 April (H.S.):

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a strike in southern Lebanon, demolishing a major tunnel belonging to the terrorist group Hezbollah, resulting in the deaths of dozens of militants. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the operation, sharing a video on X to announce the success.

In his X post, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, Today we demolished a very large Hezbollah tunnel. We are dismantling their terrorist infrastructure. Dozens of terrorists were eliminated in the strike. Much more remains to be done.

The IDF revealed that this 2-kilometer-long tunnel, located in Division 36 at Kantara in southern Lebanon, extended 25 meters underground and had been constructed with Iranian assistance. Using 450 tons of explosives on Tuesday, the IDF obliterated the tunnel, which was carved through rocky granite and contained 30 rooms stocked with a large weapons cache guarded by dozens of militants—all of whom were killed in the attack.

According to The Times of Israel, the IDF reported that Hezbollah launched a drone attack on Israeli troops stationed in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, following an incident the previous day where one soldier was seriously injured. On Tuesday, a Hezbollah drone strike also killed Amer Huzirat (44), a civilian contractor for the Defense Ministry, while his son sustained shrapnel injuries.
