Mumbai, 28 Apr (HS): Two security guards were stabbed

after asking about their religion. The incident occurred near Asmita Gtand

Mansion in Naya Nagar of Meera Road in Thane district on Monday evening. The

two security guards are being treated in a hospital, one of whom is stated to

be critical.

The investigating police officers on Tuesday

informed that the attacker, Jabar Jubair Ansari (31) has been arrested.

Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad is interrogating him. Ansari went to the two

guards and asked an address and then their religion. Ansari then asked them to

recite ‘Kalma’ , which they could not. Ansari then stabbed them and fled the

site. The injured guards have been named by the police as Rajkumar Mishra and

Subroto Sen.

Police arrested Ansari and searched his residence,

and seized handwritten note indicating wish to join ISI and ‘First Step’ to

join it. Ansari is a science graduate and spend many years in the US. He

returned to India as he could not find job there and was staying alone in Meera

Road area. He was conducting online tuition classes in Chemistry. His phone and

a laptop were seized. Police are investigating further.

Chief Minister on Tuesday said that this is a

serious incident and should be investigated from all angles. Ansari stayed in

the US. His connections in the US and elsewhere is being investigated.
