New Delhi, 27 April (H.S.): The Saket court in Delhi has remanded Rahul Meena, the accused in the rape and murder of an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer’s daughter, to seven days of judicial custody. Meena’s police custody was due to expire on Monday, after which he was produced before the court and shifted to judicial custody as per the order.
According to Delhi Police, all material connected with the crime has been recovered from the accused. The police have sent both the accused’s and the victim’s mobile phones to forensic laboratories to reconstruct the sequence of events before and after the incident and to link all evidentiary threads.
The court had earlier, on April 23, sent Rahul Meena to police custody till the date of his surrender, and the police had arrested him on April 22 from a hotel in Dwarka. During the earlier hearing, the investigating officer told the court that it was necessary to trace the accused’s mobile phone, conduct detailed questioning of his family members, and uncover his past criminal history. The officer also informed the court that cash and jewellery connected with the crime had already been recovered.
During the hearing, the court asked Rahul Meena why he had entered the girl’s house. He reportedly replied that he had gone there for money. The judge then questioned him about why he committed other crimes as well, to which Meena reportedly responded that it was his mistake.
An FIR in the case has been registered at Amar Colony police station, and Delhi Police have described the accused’s conduct as part of a broader pattern that they are trying to establish through digital and financial‑trail evidence.
