Goalpara 26 (Assam), April (HS): A major fire broke out at Balijana in Agia area of Assam’s Goalpara district, completely gutting a grocery shop and causing extensive damage to property last late night.

The incident occurred at Balijana Bazaar, where a shop owned by local businessman Pranjal Das was engulfed in flames. According to reports, all items inside the shop were reduced to ashes in the blaze.

Initial suspicion suggests that the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit, though the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel, with assistance from the police and local residents, managed to bring the fire under control after efforts to prevent it from spreading further.-----------
