Nagaon (Assam), 24 April (HS): The Nagaon Sessions Court is set to pronounce the quantum of punishment on Friday in the sensational Abhi-Neel lynching case that had shocked Assam.

Earlier on April 20, the court had convicted 20 individuals in connection with the brutal killing. The sentencing will be delivered today by the Sessions Judge of Nagaon.

The gruesome incident had taken place on June 8, 2018, at Panjuri village in Dokmoka, where a mob mercilessly lynched two youths, Abhijit Nath and Nilotpal Das, triggering widespread outrage across the state.

The case has since remained a significant example of mob violence, with today’s verdict on punishment expected to bring a crucial conclusion to the long-running trial.------------
