Under the aegis of the Poonam Sant Mahila Evam Vikas Samiti, a massive protest
rally was held today to protest the failure to pass the Nari Shakti Vandan Act
(Women's Reservation Bill). The rally began at Dharna Square and continued to
Subhash Square, Civil Lines, Prayagraj. A large number of organization
officials, friends, women, and prominent citizens participated. During the
rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was portrayed as Lord Ram, Home Minister
Amit Shah as Lakshman, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as
Bharat. Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, MK
Stalin, Sharad Pawar, and other opposition parties were depicted as Ravana and
their effigies were burned at Subhash Chowk.
Addressing the rally, Poonam Sant, the organization's national president, said
that the opposition's desperate efforts to thwart the Women's Reservation Bill
and its conspiracy to stall this important legislation are deeply unfortunate.
She added that opposition parties will suffer the consequences in the upcoming
elections—whether in West Bengal or Tamil Nadu. She stated unequivocally,
When women are not respected, they will be nowhere to be found. She
further stated that this bill is a historic step toward empowering women by
providing them with 33% reservation in political participation.
Following this, the organization's National Convenor, Isabel Brandesh,
highlighted the importance of the Women's Reservation Bill, saying that this
act ensures women's equal participation in decision-making processes and
further empowers their role in society. She strongly condemned the opposition's
anti-women stance.
Anurag Sant, the program coordinator for the entire event, explained in detail
the need and importance of the Women's Reservation Bill in his address. He
stated that this law will empower women in leadership and policy-making and
will play a vital role in establishing equality in society. Slogans were also raised:
“Long live women power!” “India will not tolerate the insult of women!”
Mainly National Secretary Abhishek Sant, Seema Bhartiya, Gunja Devi, Meera
Devi, Sanno Devi, Satikala, Reena Dubey, Rati Singh, Preeti Prajapati, Lalita
Agrahari, Sunita Gupta, Lakshmi Rawat, Sneha Kesarwani and many other officials
were present in the program. In the end, this rally emerged as a strong message
in support of women's respect, rights and empowerment, in which hundreds of
women participated.
