South Salmara (Assam), 23 April (HS): The All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AMSU) has announced an economic blockade against Meghalaya, alleging harassment of small Muslim traders and labourers from Assam in the neighbouring state.

The decision was taken amid rising concerns over the reported ill-treatment of Muslim traders and workers operating in Meghalaya. AMSU leaders claimed that such incidents have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity among the affected communities.

In protest, a mass demonstration was organized in front of the office of the District Commissioner in Hatshingimari under the initiative of the district unit of AMSU. The agitation witnessed participation from central committee student leaders of the organization along with a large number of protesters.

The demonstrators demanded immediate intervention to ensure the safety and security of Muslim traders and labourers in Meghalaya, warning of intensified agitation if their concerns are not addressed.-----------
