April 20 (HS): Police in Bhadohi have filed a complaint against six people for
allegedly kidnapping a Dalit lady five days before her wedding, an official
said. Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinav Tyagi stated that police lodged a
case against six persons from Fattupur village in the Suriyawan police station
area on Sunday evening in response to a written complaint made by the woman's
father. Teju Bind, his father Sheshdhar, his mother Mewati Bind, Shivam Bind,
Sahab Lal, and Ramnath Bind are the accused.
The
case has been filed under sections 87 (kidnapping, abducting, or inducing a
woman to marry), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult
with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the BNS, as well as the Scheduled
Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Circle
Officer (CO) Ashok Mishra has been asked to carry out an investigation and
guarantee the woman's recovery. On April 15, a lady was taken while her family
members were out from home. She had been taken the night before this event on April
6. Tyagi stated that the woman's wedding
was set on April 20 and that planning was underway. He went on to say that Teju
Bind reportedly abducted her with the aid of an accomplice during the nights of
April 6 and 7. According to the lawsuit, her relatives learned that she was in
Prayagraj after conducting a lengthy search. Five days later, on April 12, they
took her from her room and brought her home. Wedding expected to go place a few
days later; no legal action or official complaint lodged.
