announces Rs 5 lakh compensation

Apr (HS): The death toll in the Samruddhi Mahamarg in Jalna district has gone
up to eight with an injured woman lost life during treatment. Seven women workers were killed while boarding
a pick-up van after finishing their work in a farm on Wednesday evening, when a
speeding truck his them from behind. Seven workers died on the site, while five
were injured. One of the injured women died in the hospital, District Police
Superintendent Ajay Kumar Bansal informed the media on Thursday.
Meanwhile,
police have arrested the truck driver. The truck was going to Mumbai from
Nagpur. The driver had fled the site after the accident, which occurred around
6 pm on Wednesday.
The
deceased have ben identified as Alkabai Dadarao Admane (45), Laxmibai Santosh
Madan (33), Meenabai Parmeshwar Admane (45), Kanchanbai Prakash Admane (50),
Tarabai Gahenaji Chaudhari (60), Kadubai Ramdas Madan (55) and Sumanbai Kachru
Admane (70). The woman worker who died on Thursday in the hospital has not been
identified.
Prayagbai
Babasaheb Wagh (30), Kavita Chaudhari (35), Dinesh Rangnath Gaikwad (42), and
unidentified 50 years old woman are being treated at a hospital in Jalna. The
injured include driver of the ill-feted Mahindra Pick-up Van, Dinesh Gaikwad
and his associate are also being treated in the Hospital.
CM ANNOUNCES
FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed
grief over the death of women workers in the accident and has announced
financial support of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
Efforts
are being made to get compensation from their employer
