Golaghat, 02 April (HS): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday campaigned extensively in Sarupathar constituency in support of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Sahil Munda, intensifying the electoral contest in the region.
The political battle between ruling and opposition parties has reached a crucial stage in Sarupathar, while the entry of JMM has added a new dimension to the contest. With over 40,000 tea tribe and Adivasi voters in the constituency, Munda’s campaign is expected to influence the electoral equations significantly.
Soren addressed a large election rally at Panjan playground, drawing a massive crowd and signaling growing support for the JMM candidate. His presence is being seen as a key factor that could impact the outcome in the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Soren accused the BJP government in Assam of indulging in divisive politics based on religion. He alleged that the government has failed to ensure proper welfare measures for Adivasi communities, despite their crucial contribution to the tea industry. He also criticized the wage structure, stating that workers are being paid only Rs 250 as daily wages.
Soren further alleged that the government distributes financial assistance during elections to influence voters, questioning why such support is not provided regularly. He asserted that empowered Adivasi communities would be able to claim their rights effectively.
Meanwhile, JMM candidate Sahil Munda expressed confidence about his prospects, stating that his primary contest is with regional forces rather than the BJP. He added that the Adivasi community would take the right decision in the upcoming elections.-----------
