Jhargram, 19 April (H.S.):

Prime Minister Narendra Modi surprised everyone in Jhargram, West Bengal, by stepping away from protocol during an intense election campaign on Sunday. After addressing a rally, he halted his convoy at a roadside stall to savor and share the local delicacy jhalamuri—a spicy puffed rice snack made with puffed rice, oil, onions, chilies, and spices.

A Spontaneous Gesture Amid Campaign Rallies

On a packed day addressing multiple rallies across West Bengal ahead of the assembly elections, PM Modi was heading to his helicopter post-Jhargram event when he spotted the stall. Ignoring heavy SPG security, he alighted, instructed the vendor to prepare fresh jhalamuri, and first fed it to nearby children before tasting it himself.

The crowd erupted in chants of Jai Shri Ram and Narendra Modi Zindabad, while security personnel were momentarily taken aback by the unplanned stop.

Vendor's Joy and Local Delight

The stall belongs to Vikram Sah from Gaya, Bihar, who has run it in Jhargram for 12 years. With no prior notice, Sah quickly mixed puffed rice, masala, chilies, oil, and pickle to craft the spicy treat; PM Modi praised its flavor lavishly. He also chatted warmly with local women, inquiring about their well-being, turning the encounter into a cherished memory for onlookers.

Viral Video and Social Media Buzz

A video of the casual interaction has gone viral, capturing PM Modi's easy demeanor as he mingled freely. Later, he shared photos on X, captioning: In between four busy election rallies across West Bengal, enjoyed delicious jhalamuri in Jhargram. This unscripted moment has sparked widespread discussion in political circles and on social media, with locals hailing it as a refreshing display of approachability.
