ATTARI (AMRITSAR), 17 April (H.S.): Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced a major development initiative for Amritsar’s Attari constituency, unveiling projects worth ₹57.80 crore aimed at improving infrastructure and connectivity in the strategically important border region. The announcement includes the overhaul of 121 roads covering a total stretch of 137 kilometers, marking one of the most significant development pushes for the area in recent years.
Addressing a gathering in Attari, the Chief Minister emphasized that border areas like Attari had long remained neglected despite their importance. He said the new projects will not only strengthen road connectivity but also boost economic activity and improve the overall quality of life for residents in the region.
Mann highlighted that the state government is committed to ensuring balanced development across Punjab, especially in border belts that require focused attention. He added that better road infrastructure would facilitate smoother transportation of goods, improve access to essential services, and enhance mobility for both residents and security forces in the region.
Reiterating the government’s focus on grassroots development, the Chief Minister said that public funds are being utilized efficiently for the welfare of people. He stressed that the aim is to ensure that every section of society benefits from development initiatives, including farmers, youth, and small business owners.
The Chief Minister also pointed out that improved connectivity in Attari would open new avenues for trade and tourism, given its proximity to the international border. He expressed confidence that the development works will act as a catalyst for economic growth and help create new employment opportunities in the area.
Officials stated that the road projects will be executed in a phased manner to ensure timely completion and quality standards. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance infrastructure in Attari, which plays a crucial role in cross-border connectivity and regional development.
