Churachandpur (Manipur), 16 April (HS): Security forces apprehended two individuals during a vehicle interception operation at Rengkai in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, officials informed on Thursday.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ngamkhomang Haokip (36), a resident of S Moldung, and Letminthang Haokip (38) from Lhangnom village. Acting on specific inputs, the forces intercepted their vehicle and detained both occupants.

During the operation, the vehicle used by the accused along with three mobile phones were seized from their possession.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the duo was allegedly involved in a previous incident of open firing at Sielmat bridge in the same district, in which a personnel of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) sustained bullet injuries.

Authorities have initiated further investigation to ascertain additional links and details related to the case.------------
