Tanda (Hoshiarpur), 15 April (H.S.): In a significant push to uplift Punjab’s long-neglected Kandi belt, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday announced a ₹150 crore development package for Tanda Urmur. The initiative includes modern road infrastructure, a high-level bridge, and expansion of healthcare facilities, aimed at addressing decades of underdevelopment in the region.
Highlighting the importance of the move, the Chief Minister said that the area had been deprived of basic infrastructure for nearly 70 years due to political neglect. He asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party government is committed to ensuring balanced regional development and improving the quality of life for residents in rural and semi-urban areas.
Out of the total package, projects worth ₹141.88 crore have been dedicated for the renovation of link roads, which are expected to significantly improve connectivity across villages. Additionally, a high-level bridge will be constructed at a cost of ₹2.39 crore to facilitate easier access for devotees visiting Gurdwara Rampur Kheda Sahib.
The government has also announced major improvements in the healthcare sector. Health and Wellness Centres will be established in six villages—Kandhala Shekhan, Rajpur, Dhugga Kalan, Prempur, Giljian, and Jahura—at a cost of ₹3.30 crore. Furthermore, an Urban Primary Health Centre will be set up in Garhdiwala at a cost of ₹1.35 crore, enhancing access to quality medical services in the region.
In addition, a water supply project worth ₹1.54 crore has been initiated in Talwandi Daddian village to address drinking water needs.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who was present at the event, said the enthusiastic response from people reflects their trust in the government. He praised the Chief Minister’s efforts, calling him a dedicated leader focused on public welfare.
Cabinet Ministers Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Dr. Ravjot also attended the event. The announcement marks a major step toward inclusive development and signals the government’s intent to transform neglected regions into growth hubs.
