Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over rate during Match No. 22 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

Under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct—governing minimum over-rate violations—this marked his team's first offence of the season, warranting the penalty.

The match unfolded at MA Chidambaram Stadium between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, where the latter suffered a 32-run defeat.

Batting first, Chennai Super Kings posted 192/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Kolkata Knight Riders managed only 160/7 in 20 overs, falling short of the target.

Thus, while Kolkata endured defeat, captain Ajinkya Rahane also faced monetary sanction for the slow over rate.
