Bhubaneswar, 01 April (H.S.): In a major step towards enhancing public service accessibility, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday inaugurated a new Visa Application Centre at the Baramunda Bus Stand (BSABT) in Bhubaneswar.
With the launch of this facility, residents of Odisha will no longer need to travel to metro cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, or Hyderabad for visa-related services. The centre will provide end-to-end visa assistance locally, bringing significant relief and convenience to applicants across the state.
The initiative is being viewed as a key move to streamline and decentralize visa processing services. For the establishment of the centre, the state government has allotted around 3,000 square feet of space within the BSABT premises.
The development follows a tripartite agreement signed on March 23 between the Home Department, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), and VFS Global, the agency entrusted with operating the facility. This collaboration facilitated the setting up of the visa centre in the state capital.
Spread across nearly 11 acres, the Baramunda Bus Stand is the largest bus terminal in Odisha, catering to around 1,500 buses and nearly 20,000 passengers daily. Serving as a major hub for both inter-state and intra-district transportation, the location has been strategically chosen to maximize accessibility for the public.
